Ward-Prowse joins Burnley on short-term loan from West Ham
Burnley have bolstered their midfield options with the signing of James Ward-Prowse on loan until the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
West Ham midfielder James Ward-Prowse has joined relegation rivals Burnley on loan until the end of the season.
Ward-Prowse appeared six times this Premier League campaign under Graham Potter, but has since fallen out of favour at West Ham.
Nuno Espirito Santo's arrival seemed to mark the end for Ward-Prowse, who has not featured in a matchday squad since mid-September or played any minutes under the Portuguese coach.
A fresh challenge awaits at Turf Moor for the 31-year-old, who is relishing the opportunity to help Burnley mount an unlikely escape from relegation.
“I’m really pleased to be here,” Ward-Prowse told Burnley's official media channels. “As soon as I heard of Burnley’s interest and spoke to the manager, I knew this loan spell was just what I needed.
“There’s a big battle between now and the end of the season, but I’m going to relish every moment.
“I just want to get out there, pull on the Burnley shirt and give my all for the challenge that’s ahead.”
The 31-year-old was loaned to Nottingham Forest – then managed by Nuno – last season but saw his deal cut short in the January transfer window.
He will now hope to help Burnley improve on their 19th-placed position in the league, with Scott Parker's side 10 points adrift of safety after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
Ward-Prowse may have one eye on West Ham, too, with Nuno's side just five points above the Clarets in 18th.
