Vitor Pereira is the man tasked with helping Nottingham Forest stay in the Premier League after he was appointed as Sean Dyche's successor on Sunday. 

Pereira, who was sacked by Wolves in November after overseeing their dismal start to the 2025-26 campaign, has put pen to paper on an 18-month contract at the City Ground.

The 57-year-old takes over a Forest side who sit 17th in the Premier League and three points clear of the bottom three, after playing out a goalless draw with Wolves in midweek.

Forest were booed off at the City Ground having registered 35 shots against the division's bottom club, with 10 of those on target. 

It marked the most shots a team had managed without scoring in a Premier League game since Manchester United versus Burnley in October 2016 (38).

Pereira becomes Forest's fourth permanent manager of the season, with the Tricky Trees having also sacked Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou this term. 

The club also announced Filipe Jorge Monteiro Almeida, Luis Miguel Moreira Da Silva, Bruno Filipe Araujo De Moura and Pedro Simao Capela Silva Lopes would form Pereira's coaching staff.

Pereira departed Wolves having failed to win his first 10 games of the season (D2 L8), despite being handed an improved three-year contract at Molineux in September. 

He managed 10 wins from his 32 Premier League games in charge (D5 L17) overall, helping them avoid relegation in 2024-25 after Gary O'Neil oversaw another poor start. 

As part of that revival in 2024-25, Pereira oversaw a club-record six-game winning run in the Premier League, though he quickly came under pressure at the start of this season after being given enhanced power over Wolves' recruitment policy during a lacklustre transfer window.

The Portuguese's win rate of 31.2% was the fourth-highest among the seven permanent managers to have led Wolves in the competition, after Julen Lopetegui (39.1%), Nuno (37.7%) and Bruno Lage (34.7%).

Pereira is also well known to Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, having previously worked under him at Olympiacos, where he won the Greek Cup in 2014-15. 

His first game in charge will be the first leg of the Europa League knockout round play-off tie against his former club Fenerbahce on Thursday, before Forest host Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, February 22.
