Barty off to a winning start in Rome
Ashleigh Barty overcame a sluggish start to kick off her Italian Open campaign with a 6-4 6-1 win over Yaroslava Shvedova.
Barty appeared to be suffering from the effects of a hectic clay court schedule this season, going down an early break to the Kazakh world number-665 ranked Shvedova.
Barty took it easy with a beer and a burger after Madrid final loss
But the Australian world number-1, who'd won 16 straight matches on clay before her Madrid Open final loss to Aryna Sabalenka, quickly hit top gear, winning ten of the last 11 games to power past the 33 year-old 6-1 in a second set lasting just 28 minutes.
