Aussie Popyrin outsts Dimitrov in US Open boilover
Australian Alexei Popyrin pulled off a major upset at the US Open, beating former world number three Grigor Dimitrov, who was forced to withdraw in the third set due to injury.
Popyrin kept his composure despite two rain delays to take the first two sets 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-4), before Dimitrov was forced to withdraw through injury after trailing 4-0 in the third set.
The 22 year-old progresses to the third round at the US Open, where British star Dan Evans awaits.
