Kompany man puts City in box seat for title glory
Vincent Kompany's stunning long range strike lifted Manchester City to top spot in the Premier League with a 1-0 win over Leicester and one round remaining.
Foxes 'keeper Kasper Schmeichel was left with no chance by Kompany's 70th-minute, wonderstrike.
Up until that point, Leicester had frustrated City with a stoic defensive effort that would have had Liverpool fans hoping their former manager - Brendan Rodgers's- team could hold out for a famous draw.
But, after a run of sustained pressure, captain Kompany strolled into the unguarded space just outside the penalty area, rifling his shot into the top left corner.
The result leaves City in first place and needing a win at Brighton on the last day of the season to secure the title. Liverpool faces the far more difficult task of beating Wolves at home to give itself the best chance of final day glory.
