Four tantalising derbies headline a 48-game marathon of football on beIN SPORTS, and you can watch every game LIVE over the next three days.
Domestic football is back with a bang on beIN, with 48 live games over the next few days. Here are the four mouth-watering derbies across Europe’s top leagues which stand out from the pack.
1) West Midlands Derby – West Brom v Birmingham
- When: Saturday 30 March from 7am (AEDT)
- How to watch: LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on beIN 1 & CONNECT
Birmingham was fighting for a promotion play-off spot until it was handed nine-point penalty for breaching EFL’s spending regulations.
With the club reeling on the back of four-straight defeats, Saturday’s trip to the Midlands will define Birmingham’s season.
A win will stem the bleeding and restore some much-needed confidence, but another defeat could be the hammer blow which sends the Blues on a slippery slide to relegation.
Fourth-placed West Brom on the other hand, will be looking to build some momentum heading into the promotion playoffs.
2) Barcelona derby – Barcelona FC v Espanyol
- When: Sunday 31 March from 2.15am (AEDT)
- How to watch: LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on beIN 2 & CONNECT
It’s the most contested local derby in LaLiga history, and Espanyol’s chance to step out of the towering shadow of its glamorous rival and cause an upset.
Lionel Messi was at his scintillating best the last time these two teams squared off, silencing the RCDE Stadium with two goals and an assist, and Rubi’s men, enjoying a mini revival of their own, will be out for revenge at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona will take a major stride towards the LaLiga title with another serving of derby delight this weekend.
3) Old Firm Derby - Celtic v Rangers
- When: Sunday 31 March from 10pm (AEDT)
- How to watch: LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on beIN 2 & CONNECT
Arguably Europe’s most spite-filled derby, these two Glasgow rivals face off for the third and final time in the Scottish Premiership season this weekend.
With Celtic 10-points clear with eight games remaining, a win over its Old Firm foe will all but wrap up the league title in front of its home crowd.
But second-placed Rangers won’t go down without a fight, and Stephen Gerrard’s men will be desperate to keep their dwindling title hopes alive by closing the gap at the league summit to seven points.
It’s one win a piece for both sides heading into this decider and Neil Lennon’s return to the dugout will more fuel to a highly combustible clash.
Sunday’s showdown could mark the return of Celtic’s ‘Wizard of Oz’ Tom Rogic, and the Socceroos star seems to revel against Rangers.
4) Derby Del Sole – Roma v Napoli
- When: Monday 1 April from 12am AEDT
- How to watch: LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on beIN 1 & CONNECT
Two of Italian football’s glamour clubs collide when Napoli heads to the nation’s capital to take on a Roma side looking to rebuild under Claudio Ranieri.
It’s a tough task for the Giallorossi, which will be sweating the fitness of several key players, including Javier Pastore, Allessandro Florenzi and Kostas Manoloas heading into Monday morning’s (AEDT) showdown at the Stadio Olimpico.
There’s plenty at stake for both sides, Napoli has to win to keep any slim hopes of clawing back Juventus’s 15-point lead in the Scudetto race, while a win for Roma would be a major boost in its bid for UEFA Champions League qualification.
