Mooy scores as Terriers crush Canaries
Australia's Aaron Mooy scored a superb goal as Huddersfield Town wrapped up a win over Norwich City inside seven second-half minutes.
Aaron Mooy showed off some serious individual skill as he scored the second of Huddersfield Town's goals as it sealed a dominant 3-0 win over Norwich City in the Championship on Thursday (AEST).
The Australia midfielder somehow managed to get a shot away on the turn despite being surround by opposition defenders to score the Terriers' second goal as they went on a seven-minute rampage to ruin the visitors' night.
Elias Kachunga had put the hosts ahead in the 66th minute, chasing a long ball into the box before firing a low right-foot shot across Norwich goalkeeper Michael McGovern, which nestled in the far corner of the goal.
Mooy's strike came just four minutes later, and when Nahki Wells sneaked a third home under McGovern's body in the 73rd minute, the night was as good as done for the Canaries.
Huddersfield's victory strengthens its position in third place, a play-off spot for the Premier League now as good as guaranteed with Fulham 10 points behind in seventh spot.
While it has a game in hand over the teams around it, an automatic promotion spot in the top two could yet prove difficult for the Yorkshire side, with a nine-point gap to Brighton & Hove Albion in second and Newcastle United leading the pack a further point ahead.
