Sounders confirm torn ACL for Torres
Seattle Sounders announced that the Panama defender has suffered a torn ACL after previously confirming he was out for the season.
It was already known Roman Torres would be out for the remainder of the MLS season. Now, the full extent of the Panamanian's knee injury is known.
The Sounders confirmed Wednesday (AEST) that Torres suffered a torn ACL in the weekend 1-1 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes, with the 29 year-old center back facing a comeback likely to continue through the beginning of the 2016 MLS campaign.
The news came a day after the club announced Torres would be out for the season without specifying the time frame.
Torres had logged just four matches for Seattle, showing a promising partnership with Chad Marshall in central defense, since signing last month from Colombian side Millonarios.
The acquisition came after Torres delivered a standout performance in the CONCACAF Gold Cup for Panama. Already ruled out for Panama's first two matches in the semifinal stage of FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifying in November, Torres now is a doubt for a pair of qualifiers in March as well.
