Fener fan smashes TV, player offers him new one
A furious Fenerbahce fan who smashed his TV while watching the Istanbul derby is now in line to receive a brand new one from the club's Brazilian star, Josef de Souza.
Ever been so annoyed by the beautiful game that you've wanted to smash your TV? For one Fenerbahce fan, that destructive fantasy became a violent reality during this weekend's Istanbul derby against Besiktas.
Judging by the video, it looked like the unit was already suffering from a skewed signal when the fan launched into his wild assault on the screen, one that made certain it wouldn't be getting reception of any kind ever again.
Lucky for him, however, Fenerbahce's Brazilian star Josef de Souza saw the video after the game — which Fenerbahce won — and has promised to buy the short-tempered supporter a brand new TV.
Fenerbahce secured its 2-1 victory through another Brazilian, Guiliano, and on-loan Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen, with former Liverpool frontman Ryan Babel grabbing a late consolation in a crazy final five-minute spell.
As well as Janssen's strike, that same period of madness saw five players sent off by the referee.
Ricardo Quaresma was the first to go for Besiktas after receiving a yellow cards before half-time, and Fenerbahce then lost Luis Neto for bringing down a player who was through on goal just before the break.
The visitors then waved goodbye to Atiba Hutchinson with five minutes left of the 90 for a second bookable offence, and Ismail Koybasi evened the numbers for Fenerbahce when he was sent to the showers for a dangerous tackle.
Oguzhan Ozyakup's second yellow card in stoppage-time meant the visitors ended up with just eight players as a typically feisty affair between the two Turkish capital sides finished.
