Denis Suarez is going back to Barcelona after the Liga champion exercised a buy-back clause, signing him on a four-year-deal from Villarreal.
Villarreal signed the attacking midfielder to a four-year contract in July 2015 after he had spent the previous season on loan at Sevilla. Suarez made 48 appearances in all competitions for Villarreal and scored five goals while contributing 13 assists.
But he will now to return to Camp Nou, Barca paying $3.6 million to bring him back to Catalonia. Suarez's new contract has an option for a fifth year, which is dependent on the number of appearances he makes in the fourth season of the deal.
The 22 year-old, who has never played for Barca's first team but has been capped once by Spain's senior side, now has a buy-out clause of $73 million.
