Venezuelan team upsets incredible odds to take first leg lead
Venezuelan Club Zulia has withstood 54 shots and a miserly 21 per cent possession to snatch an incredible 1-0 away win at Bolivian Primera Division leader Nacional Potosi.
Venezuelan club Zulia withstood an incredible attacking barrage to snatch an unlikely first leg lead in the opening stage of the Copa Sudamericana, against Bolivian Primera Division leader Nacional Potosi.
Potosi, unbeaten in a league it has dominated so far this season having scored 18 goals in its past five matches, fired off 54 shots and enjoyed 79 percent of possession, but for all its attacking intent, it was unable to breach either the Zulia 'keeper Leo Morales, or the frame of the goal, hitting the woodwork three times.
Deep into stoppage time, Zulia striker Brayan Velasques got on the end of a slick counter-attack, sending his shot past the outstretched arms of Javier Rojas and into the goal to give his side the unlikeliest of first leg leads.
