Bayern wins to stay clear of Dortmund
First-half goals from Robert Lewandowski and Leon Goretzka gave Bayern Munich a 3-1 Bundesliga home win against Hannover, keeping it clear of Borussia Dortmund in the title race.
Bayern led 2-0 half-time lead and was in cruise control, and despite Jonathas pulling one back from the spot, the relegation-threatened visitors struggled to push any harder when the same player was sent off within four minutes of his goal.
Franck Ribery hit a third for Bayern with seven minutes to go, leaving Dortmund needing a win at Werder Bremen to keep the pressure on, a result it failed to manage, blowing a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2.
With just two matches remaining, another title for Bayern appears a formality, with Dortmund having to win both games to stand any chance of overhauling the gap.
Bayern broke the deadlock in the 27th minute when Joshua Kimmich crossed for Lewandowski and he duly powered past Hannover goalkeeper Michael Esser.
Esser made good saves to keep out drives by Thomas Muller and Boateng but he could do nothing about Bayern's second goal, a superb 25-yard curler from Goretzka.
Goretzka could have added two more before the break as Bayern continued to push for goals, however Hannover scored from the spot in the 51st minute after Boateng blocked a cross with his arm.
Arjen Robben made a late cameo for the hosts, his first appearance since November after a long-term injury, as the day ended happily for the home fans.
