Time for the Great American Fridge Clean-Out
Soccer slowdown causes planetary panic, Bayern faces mole attack and Real Madrid suffer another Bale-out. All this and more TFI Friday fun from the wacky world of sports

1) Real Madrid face Bale-out against Valencia
Unacceptable. And probably illegal. There is no Friday football, anywhere, accept in Denmark. Not even a minor league like the EPL is getting in on the act. In fact, it gets even worse. As the European leagues wind down towards the end of the season, many are playing all their games at the exact same time. That’s certainly the case in the English Championship, Spain, France and Germany.
This means that the soccer coverage over the weekend is minimal meaning that the very stinky North American fridge may finally have to be cleaned out and scrubbed and back yard weeded. That’s certainly the case in the beIN SPORTS offices, where new life forms are starting to grow in the vegetable box and attempting mind control over some of the staff through pores sucked through the air conditioning system.
Anyhow. La Liga are one of those that is playing all their games at the same time on Sunday at 11AM ET. And naturally, beIN SPORTS will be bringing you action from the Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid games across the network.
The latter of that title-chasing trio are still having injury troubles in the business end of the season. The strain of having to play more than two games in a row has been too much for delicate Gareth Bale and the Welshman is missing the visit of Valencia to the Santiago Bernabeu with a knee injury.
Karim Benzema and Casemiro are both back in training but no word yet on their availability for Sunday’s clash. With Cristiano Ronaldo also no guarantee at the moment, Coach Zizou might find his forward line in a very huge match slightly weaker than he may have hoped.
2) Bayern Munich dressing room struck by mole attack as Milan coach admits new job sucks
Bayern are on the brink of clinching the Bundesliga title, but the week has been a bit of a downer with Bayern’s exit to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semis and complaints from Pep Guardiola that there is a ‘mole’ in the dressing room who has been leaking information to the press. “He only hurts the team and the club. It's a problem for the club, not me,” announced Pep on Friday
Back-to-back draws with Carpi and Frosinone has seen new Milan boss, Cristian Brocchi, already under pressure and already realizing that being in charge of the San Siro club is not a barrel of giggles these days. “It’s not easy to be criticized by all and still push ahead and look to move forward in the right direction,” admitted the former youth team coach.
3) Boro and Brighton gear up for richest prize in football
The biggest match this weekend in terms of riches is set to be in the Championship with Middlesbrough facing Brighton in the final round of the regular season. The situation is simple. If Boro win or draw they take the second automatic promotion spot to the Premier League. If Brighton win, then the Seagulls move on up. The prize in increased revenue for the winner, if they survive the first season in the English top flight is roughly $200 million. No pressure then.
Brighton’s Chris Hughton has said that his team are “not frightened by the challenge on Riverside.” “These are the games you want to play in,” says Boro’s Neil Maddison. It could be good. Make sure you are up bright on and early on Saturday at 7.30AM ET to catch the game live on beIN SPORTS. And catch the Locker Room tonight to see who the guests tip for glory…or being very gutted indeed.
4) Top athletics action returns to beIN SPORTS
One of the highlights of the beIN SPORTS calendar gets underway at 11.55AM live on beIN SPORTS with the Diamond League getting going. It’s a chance to catch some of the top track-and-field stars in the world get ready for the Rio Olympics in a series of top class meets around the world. Doha is first up and the meet features a sprinkling of World and Olympic Champions including America’s very own triple-jumper extraordinaire, Christian Taylor.
5) Giro d’Italia gets underway ahead of three-week marathon
In fact, even as Sports Burst tippy types away, another one of the highlights of the beIN SPORTS calendar is already underway with the prologue stage of the Giro d’Italia. Which is in the Netherlands. It’s Europe. You have to just go with it. But it’s live on beIN SPORTS. Go look! Now!
