Sports Burst - Real-ity Check for Solari
Santiago Solari under early pressure as Champions League checkpoint approaches
Real Madrid in Italy facing Roma Champions League challenge
Well, the beginners luck for Santiago Solari that Sports Burst spoke of on Friday, did not exactly last very long.
After passing the Argentine's audition to become Real Madrid's coach with four wins from four, reality took over on Saturday with a dreadful display in Solari's first official match in charge for Madrid at Eibar. A 3-0 defeat was flattering. As one wag in Marca noted, there is no-one left to sack now at Real Madrid.
The third Real Madrid manager in seven months will be back in the limelight again today, speaking from Italy ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash against Roma.
Luckily, Solari has some breathing space in the competition with Madrid at the top of Group G with nine points, five ahead of CSKA Moscow in third. There is a margin for error against a Roma side also struggling with just one win in five in Serie A.
The Real Madrid squad that travelled to Italy is missing the injured quartet of Casemiro, Nacho, Keylor Navas and Alvaro Odriozola.
Tune into the Locker Room at 7PM ET / 4PM PT where the panel will work out what went wrong for Real Madrid and if anyone can be sacked over it.
Ousmane Dembele reportedly seeks early Barcelona exit
Fresh from scoring a key goal for Barcelona on Saturday to drag a point out of the Atletico Madrid clash, Ousmane Dembele is back in the news with a 'reportedly' story on Monday.
This one suggests that the Frenchman has asked his Barca bosses for a transfer in January, which could in turn lead to the return of Neymar... and so on and so on.
Neymar, meanwhile, will be busy on Monday trying to get fit for Wednesday's crucial Champions League game for PSG against Liverpool.
Arsene Wenger might be getting fitted for lederhosen this week - now that's a thought to start the day - with those pesky reports again saying that the Frenchman is now in serious consideration to take over from Niko Kovac at Bayern Munich.
A 3-3 home draw for the Bundesliga champions - after leading 3-1 against relegation-battling Fortuna Dusseldorf - leaves Bayern nine points off Borussia Dortmund at the top of the table.
Our Sports Burst live show will have all the transfer nonsense. Just head to the beIN SPORTS Facebook page at 12PM ET / 9AM PT.
Turkey leftovers and more life in La Liga on Monday
The weekend has not finished with you yet. Oh no.
There is still some soccer business to attend to on Monday. And it's pretty good stuff, too.
Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo are going at it in La Liga. Neither are exactly blowing the porch doors off their campaigns so far, so a win is very much needed for both. That gets underway on beIN SPORTS at 2:50PM ET / 11:50AM PT.
That is preceded by an impressive Istanbul Basaksehir looking to increase its lead at the top of the Turkish Super Lig standings to Goztepe. That gets going at 12PM ET / 9AM PT.
The Premier League is poking its nose into Monday soccer with Burnley hosting a Newcastle United side looking for a third straight EPL win, while the home team is looking to pull away from the relegation zone after a very paltry start to the season.
The XTRA with Kevin Egan at 7PM ET / 4PM PT is the place to be for all the best of the day's action.
More Copa Libertadores chaos expected
Although Monday is still in its early stages, the day is sure to bring a huge amount of finger-pointing in Argentina over who to blame for the weekend's Copa Libertadores final fiasco.
The weekend saw fan violence, the Boca Juniors bus attacked when approaching River Plate's stadium, Boca players injured by flying gas and tear-gassed for good measure, supporters getting into the ground without tickets, and the match postponed twice by authorities which seem to have a thin grasp on what exactly was going on and what to do about it.
South America's footballing authority, Conmebol, has said that it plans to meet with the club presidents of both River Plate and Boca Juniors on Tuesday to discuss a date to play the game with Saturday December 8th reportedly the strongest possibility.
