Real Madrid Could be Dumped Out of Copa del Rey Over Denis Cheryshev Availability
Real Madrid's malaise threatens to get worse as they could be dumped out of Copa del Rey after playing Denis Cheryshev who was not available.

Things likely can't get worse for Real Madrid.
After suffering through a humiliating loss in El Clasico a couple of weeks ago and with manager Rafa Benitez already under fire, news is coming out of Spain that Real Madrid may have to forfeit its Copa del Rey match against Cadiz because it lined up Denis Cheryshev in its squad when the player was unavailable due to suspension.
Cheryshev, who happened to score Real Madrid's goal in the first half, received a third yellow card in a Copa del Rey action last year while on loan with Villarreal, making him ineligible to play in the next match in the same competition.
Whether Cadiz will call for a forfeit is still uncertain, but what is clear is that the Merengue club continues to spiral in a negative direction following poor performances on the pitch and gaffes -- including the David De Gea/ Keylor Navas transfer boondoggle in the offseason.
Interestingly enough, Benitez might have been in charge of a club who suffered a similar faux pas earlier in his career when as manager of Valencia the club also lined up a player who was allegedly ineligible in a Copa del Rey match.
