Gonzalo Higuain Deal Doesn't Mean Paul Pogba Has To Be Sold By Juventus
Gonzalo Higuain's arrival at Juventus does not mean Paul Pogba has to leave the club to finance the deal.
Gonzalo Higuain's arrival at Juventus does not mean Paul Pogba has to leave the club to finance the deal.
The Old Lady have stunned everyone by activating Higuain's release clause at rivals Napoli, which stands at €94m.
It was assumed Juventus were financing the deal with world record sale of Pogba, but Sky Sport Italia now state that isn't the case.
Juve will pay €90m for Higuain, not the full €94m due to a loophole in the contract, and that payment would be spread out over two years. It means the deal will only qualify as €45m per season on the transfer budget.
The report also goes on to state that Juve will raise funds through the sale of players such as Mario Lemina, Simone Zaza and Roberto Pereyra.
With Real Madrid also back in negotiations, it means Juve can play Man Utd off against the Spanish giants and command more money. A bid of €110m plus €10m in bonuses from the English outfit has already been rejected.
The Serie A champions are also putting down a marker for Pogba, stating their intent to claim the Champions League with their high-profile signings including Dani Alves and Miralem Pjanic.
