Argentina Set To Bid For 2027 World Cup
The 2027 Rugby World Cup is in Argentina's sights as they look to host the event for the first time.
Argentina are set to bid to host the 2027 Rugby World Cup after president Mauricio Macri met with Agustin Pichot.
Japan will host the 2019 edition of the tournament, while South Africa are considered favourites for 2023.
Argentina, who will bid for the first time, want the event on home soil in 11 years' time.
Macri and Pichot, the World Rugby vice-chairman, met on Monday in Buenos Aires.
"The decision is in line with the objective of promoting major sporting events," Macri said.
"That allows us to position the country to attract tourism and investment and stimulate the development of infrastructure projects that benefit the community."
Argentina finished fourth at last year's World Cup, and were third at the 2007 edition.
