At just 13 years of age, swimmer Gaurika Singh is the youngest competitor at Rio 2016 and the Nepalese won her 100 metre backstroke heat.
Rio 2016's youngest competitor enjoyed success in the pool as Nepal's Gaurika Singh won her heat in the 100 metre backstroke.
Aged 13 years and 255 days, Singh beat Samoa's Evelina Afoa by just under three-tenths of a second in a race featuring only three competitors.
However, her time of 1:08.45 was not sufficient to qualify for the semi-finals.
