Dirk Nowitzki Reenacts Fateful Simone Zaza Penalty
The NBA star did his best impression of the Juventus striker, leading to hilarious results.
Dirk Nowitzki must have been praying his team would get a penalty kick during his annual "Champions for Charity" soccer match in Mainz, Germany.
Luckily for the Dallas Mavericks star, the Nowitzki All-Stars did get a penalty during their match against the National Drivers, and he took full advantage of his chance to troll Italy.
In the 69th minute of the match, the NBA star reenacted Simone's Zaza's now-infamous miss in the penalty shootout against Germany in the Euro 2016 quarterfinal, in which the Juventus forward stutter-stepped his way up to the ball before blasting comically high and wide.
Speaking to Sport1 after the match, Nowitzki said: "I wanted to hit [the penalty] the Italian way and was able to finish with the same result."
Bravo, Dirk, The entire world, with the possible exception of some Italians, applauds your effort.
