Cameron Beaubier Replaces Injured Sylvain Guintoli at Donington Park
Cameron Beaubier is set to make his WorldSBK debut by replacing an injured Sylvain Guintoli at Donington Park.
MotoAmerica MotoAmerica Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier will make his World Superbike debut next weekend when he heads to Donington Park in England to join the Pata Yamaha World Superbike team in place of the injured Sylvain Guintoli.
Beaubier, who raced at Donington Park in his season of 125cc Grand Prix racing, will join Brit Alex Lowes on the British-based factory Yamaha team.
"I feel really fortunate that the Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team is giving me this opportunity to be a part of the team for the weekend while Sylvain is healing up,” Beaubier said in a team release. “I'm also thankful that Yamaha U.S. is allowing me to do this in the middle of our season. It will be a tough weekend with lots of learning, but I'm going to do my best and have fun."
The race will be the start of a three-race stint for Beaubier as he travels to England for the Donington round, May 27-29, then heads to Road America for the Honda Superbike Showdown of Wisconsin, June 3-5, before concluding the three straight weekends with the Honda Showdown of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park, June 10-12.
Lowes, meanwhile, will be racing after undergoing surgery on Wednesday to plate his broken left clavicle, the result of a race-two crash in Malaysia on Sunday.
