Dani Alves Urges Barcelona To Hand Neymar New Deal
Dani Alves has urged Barcelona to tie Neymar down to a new deal.
Dani Alves has urged Barcelona to tie Neymar down to a new deal, insisting they would be "crazy" not to reward the 24-year-old with a contract extension.
The Brazilian forward's current deal expires in 2018 and talks are progressing over a new contract.
Neymar's father revealed on Thursday that Manchester United had launched a €190 million offer for his son in the last summer transfer window, and Alves has now called on Barca to step up their negotiations with the 24-year-old.
He is quoted by ESPN as saying: "Neymar is living his dream. When he was thinking about leaving, I told him to look at how Brazilians have always done better at Barca than at other clubs. Here you must understand football.
"He has two years left on his contract, but if they do not give him a new one, they are crazy. Neymar will succeed Messi, as he is very good. Nobody is capable of doing what he can do."
