Seeds sail through in Bucharest
Anastasija Sevastova, Carla Suarez Navarro and Julia Goerges have dropped just a set between them in reaching the last eight in Bucharest.
There were no problems for any of the top three seeds at the Bucharest Open as Anastasija Sevastova, Carla Suarez Navarro and Julia Goerges all progressed into the quarter-finals.
Top seed Sevastova and second seed Suarez Navarro lost just three games between them in reaching the second round, and both claimed straight-sets wins on Wednesday.
Sevastova beat Daka Kovinic 6-4 6-4 and Suarez Navarro overcame wildcard Elena-Gabriela Ruse 6-3 6-4.
Goerges had to come from a set down to eliminate Alexa Glatch in the first round and recovered from an early break of serve in the first set as she claimed a 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 victory over Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
Elsewhere in the draw, Ana Bogdan was a 6-4 7-5 winner over Cagla Buyukakcay.
Meanwhile, at the Ladies Championship Gstaad, third seed Anett Kontaveit and sixth seed Carina Witthoeft needed three sets to beat Anna Kalinskaya and Rebecca Sramkova respectively and will now face each other in the last eight.
Sara Sorribes Tormo and Tamara Korpatsch were also victorious in the second round in Switzerland.
