Roglic dismisses Dumoulin's slipstream claims
Primoz Roglic felt no advantage from trailing a motorbike down Friday's final descent at the Tour de France, despite Tom Dumoulin's claims.
Primoz Roglic dismissed the notion that he rode the slipstream of a motorbike to victory on stage 19 of the Tour de France.
The LottoNL-Jumbo rider took a huge step towards a podium finish as he climbed into the top three of the general classification standings with a dominant last descent on Friday.
However, Tom Dumoulin, whose title hopes were dented by a sixth-placed finish, claimed that a motorbike carrying a television camera aided Roglic as he broke away from the chasing group.
"I am super disappointed," said Dumoulin, who finished 19 seconds behind Roglic. "It doesn't make sense. That bike should have been behind us.
"Primoz sat on his [top] tube and powered away from us on a flat section. I was sprinting full gas and still couldn't catch him."
But Roglic insists he did not feel any benefits and, even if he had, simply reaped the rewards of working hard to reach the summit first.
"I don't think [it had an impact]. It's hard to comment – I don't have influence on that," Roglic said. "We all have the same possibility to go down in first place.
"I was not on the motorbike and I didn't notice anything unusual."
Roglic is two minutes and 24 seconds behind yellow jersey leader Geraint Thomas, with Dumoulin 19 seconds ahead in second.
