Injured Sharapova out of Rogers Cup
World number two Maria Sharapova will play no part in next week's Rogers Cup due to injury.
The WTA has confirmed world number two Maria Sharapova will miss next week's Rogers Cup in Toronto due to a "right leg strain".
The five-time major winner has not played since losing to Serena Williams in the Wimbledon semi-finals in July.
A tweet from the WTA's official account on Friday read: "@MariaSharapova has withdrawn from @rogerscup with a right leg strain."
The Russian was a finalist at the event in 2009, when Elena Dementieva took the title.
