Adam Peaty is ready to go "fishing" for gold in Rio but the 50 metres and 100m breaststroke world-record holder said it will not be the end of the world if he falls short in his first Olympic Games.

City of Derby swimmer Peaty added another two gold medals to his collection when he won the 100m breaststroke and mixed 4x100m medley relay at the European Championships in London this week.

The 21-year-old Brit clocked a European Championship best time of 58.36 seconds as he builds momentum ahead of his maiden Olympics in Brazil.

Peaty said he will thrive on the pressure when he goes in search of glory on the biggest stage of all in August.

Speaking at the Arena launch of the new Powerskin Carbon-Ultra in London, Peaty told Omnisport: "There's always pressure for gold and you always want to do the best for your country.

"At the meet [World Championships] last year, I put a lot of pressure on myself to gun for gold and it didn't really work out that well, but I still did a fast time. But I was nowhere near where I could have been.

"Now I'm going to learn a lot about becoming who I want to be. There's no pressure as such, there's only pressure that I'm putting on myself. I am going in there as a front-runner and I am going in there as a world record holder, but so what?

"That's more of a confidence [boost] than hindrance. People know that I can go 57.9 [seconds in the 100 metres breaststroke], and people know that I can go 57.7 in the relay. So I've always got that in confidence to carry me through.

"It's my first Olympics, I can't really say anything. I'm just going to look at it and be excited for it and see what we get. I'll go fishing again, and if I don't come back with anything then I'll try again at the next Olympics."
