Scholes- Ronaldo move is a shock
Cristiano Ronaldo’s former Manchester United team-mate Paul Scholes has reacted to the news of the 33-year olds transfer to Juventus from Real Madrid, suggesting that the move is going to be tough on the Portuguese attacker.
Scholes has been a guest of beIN SPORTS during the 2018 World Cup in Russia and has expressed his shock at the move.
“It was a big surprise, yeah. Why would he want to leave Real Madrid I don’t know? Maybe he’s been forced out I’m not too sure what the situation is there “noted the former England international after it was revealed that Ronaldo has left Madrid for a reported €105 million.
Whilst a move to Italy in the latter stages of his career came as a shock for the midfielder. “The destination is more a surprise to me, going to Italy I know Juventus is a big club don’t get me wrong but I don’t think is style of living will be like anything it would have been in Madrid.”
Despite his reservations, Scholes believes that Ronaldo will be looking to make his mark in Italy but questioned if Ronaldo could replicate his extraordinary goal-scoring record in Serie A.
“It will be a big challenge for him he’s got a chance now to conquer Italian football, he’s gone from Spain he was brilliant in England, amazing wherever he’s been.”
“Can he now go on at his age I’m sure he can. He’s a fit lad he looks after himself. He will want to do well and will be looking to get 40/50 goals in Juventus. Can he do that? I dunno.”
