Wolves lose Hughes to broken hand
Jack Hughes will miss up to eight weeks of Warrington Wolves' Super League campaign after injuring his hand against Wigan Warriors.
Super League leaders Warrington Wolves will be without ever-present forward Jack Hughes for the next two months after he suffered a broken hand.
Since joining from Huddersfield Giants ahead of the 2016 season, Hughes has impressed for Warrington as they have opened up a two-point lead at the summit.
He has featured in every game under Tony Smith, making the second highest number of tackles for the Wolves behind prop Chris Hill.
However, he is set for a period on the sidelines after damaging his hand in the early stages of last week's 40-10 win over Wigan Warriors.
"Jack Hughes broke a bone in his hand in the first tackle the other night and his hand is now in a pot for six weeks," said Smith.
"Once that comes off it will be another two on top of that before he can return to playing. It's a loss as he's had a superb start for us but it's an opportunity for someone else to come in."
Meanwhile, the Rugby Football League have announced Widnes back Patrick Ah Van has been banned for five matches after being found guilty of a dangerous throw.
