Gatland plays down injury fears
Alun Wyn Jones and Jamie Roberts should be right to go for Wales at the Rugby World Cup, despite knocks on Saturday.
Wales coach Warren Gatland played down knocks to Alun Wyn Jones and Jamie Roberts, after the pair were both withdrawn from the field against Ireland on Saturday.
Although Wales ran out 16-10 winners in Dublin, lock Jones and centre Roberts both came out second-best from clashes at Aviva Stadium.
However, Gatland allayed fears the pair had picked up injuries, with their Rugby World Cup opener against Uruguay on September 20 - just three weeks away.
"It's just bumps and bruises really," Gatland replied when asked about the pair.
"Our biggest scare about today was severe injuries. Alun Wyn was precautionary really.
"We made the decision in the box that it wasn't worth him him playing on and potentially picking up a tournament-ending injury."
On Roberts, Gatland added: "Jamie has just got a knock on the ribs. Apart from that it's just bumps and bruises at the moment so hopefully we're relatively unscathed."
