Garbiñe Muguruza battled back from a set down to progress to the semi-final of the Qatar Total Open, after defeating Caroline Garcia 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

The first set was one to forget for fourth seed Muguruza as Garcia raced into a two-game lead with an early break of serve before Muguruza hit back taking a service game off her opponent.

An eighth game break of serve ensured that Garcia was serving for the set.  The French competitor kept her composure and held her serve to take the first set 6-3

Murguruza recovered well and fought back to comprehensively to take the second set 6-1. Breaks in the fourth game and the sixth game turned the tie in the Spaniard's favour.

The 24-year old Murguruza grew in confidence in the final set and completed the comeback with a 6-4 victory. The won ensures that the Spaniard will be making her first appearance in the semi-final of the Qatar Total Open.

Murguruza will play Cici Bellis or Simona Halep for a chance to reach the final tomorrow.
