Second seeds Marach & Pavic prevail to lift Doha doubles title

Second seeds Oliver Marach & Mate Pavic got the better of the top-seeded pair of Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 to claim the Qatar ExxonMobil Open doubles crown for 2018. 

Marach & Pavic didn't drop a single set on route to the final and the pair made a dream start in the first set, breaking the duo of Murray and Soares in the third game of the encounter. A further break in the seventh match 40-0 gave the Austrian & Croatian duo the advantage, eventually running out as 6-2 winners. 

The second set was a tight affair, with both teams holding their serve. The pair of Murray & Soares who had been the number one seeds looked to press their advantage. However, the British and Brazillian duo where to be denied, with the second set ending at 6-6 heading to a tiebreaker.

In the tiebreaker, Marach & Pavic raced into the lead, at one stage squandering four match points as Murray & Soares battled back. Fortunately, Marach & Pavic maintained their composure eventually winning the tiebreak 8-6 to claim their maiden Qatar ExxonMobil Open doubles title.
