The Citizens dropped their first points of the season last time out with a 1-1 draw with Wolves. Pep Guardiola’s side will certainly be aggrieved at how they drew the contest after a replay showed that Willy Boly seemed to have handled the ball into the net for Wolves opening goal of the game.

Still, City pushed on and levelled the tie thanks to a thumping header from Aymeric Laporte, who scored his first ever goal for the side. The defending Premier League champions had chances to win the contest, but Wolves stood firm to pick up a deserved point.
 

Key Man

Leroy Sane was a second-half substitute against Wolves and looked lively during his cameo. The German international winger has yet to start a Premier League this season and could be handed the opportunity against the Magpies. Newcastle is likely to sit back and frustrate City and the pace of Sane could be a valuable asset in breaking down Rafa Benitez’s side.

Newcastle put in a spirited performance against Chelsea despite losing 2-1. Rafa Benitez’s side conceded nearly all of the possession against the Blues (they only enjoyed 18% of the ball in the match) but still could have arguably come away with a point had DeAndre Yedlin not flicked the ball into his own net minutes after Joselu headed in the equalizer.

Much has been made of Benitez dropping Jonjo Shelvey & Jamaal Lascelles for the match, with rumours of a bust-up between the Newcastle captain and manager. Still, Toon fans will be hopeful that the pair can reconcile ahead of the City game.

Key Man

Newcastle stopper Martin Dúbravka has been one of the form keepers in the league this season and pulled off a host of stunning saves against Chelsea to frustrate the West London side. The Slovakian keeper will have to be at his very best if Newcastle is to have any chance of coming away with anything against the 2017/ 2018 Premier League champions.
