Algerian midfielder Adlène Guedioura has revealed to beIN SPORTS that he expects international team-mate Riyad Mahrez to be joining one of the best teams in Europe very soon.
Mahrez, who scored in Leicester’s 3-2 win at Newcastle at the weekend has been linked with the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona and Paris Saint-German in recent transfer windows and Guedioura expects the attacker to make the move.
“No disrespect to Leicester but you need to see him (Mahrez) in the top four of the Premier League or in Spain or France like Paris Saint Germaine, clubs like this. For us as Algerians we want him to be in a top club he deserves it has all the qualities and abilities to do it.”
Guedioura, who is currently with English Championship side Middleborough is recovering from an injury at ASPETAR hospital.
Mahrez was a relative unknown when he moved from Le Havre to Leicester, however within three seasons, the Algerian international had helped his side win the Premier League and also won the coveted PFA player of the year award. An achievement that marks Mahrez as one of the best in the league, according to Guedioura.
“He’s a top, top player. He’s been player of the season in the Premier League and no African player has been player of the year before. Of course, there were some very good players like Didier Drogba, Yaya Toure now you have Mane but an Algerian has done this.”
Leicester has resisted several bids in the past for Mahrez, and only last summer the midfielder was allowed to leave Algeria’s training camp to finalize a deadline day move to an unknown side. Unfortunately for the Desert Warriors star, the move didn’t materialise despite this Guedioura is confident his team-mate will make the move in the future.
“I don’t why he is not been at a top club, I know don’t know what had happened, I will never know he (Maherez) will know more but hopefully soon he will be in a top club.”
