Tate announces retirement after UCF 205 loss
Former bantamweight champion Miesha Tate leaves the sport with an 18-7 record (5-4 UFC), following Saturday's loss to Raquel Pennington.
In an unexpected move, Miesha Tate announced her retirement after losing a unanimous decision to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205 in New York City.
Former Bantamweight champion Tate took a beating and did not seem fully committed to the fight as Pennington peppered her with jabs on Saturday.
And the 30-year-old dropped a bombshell post-fight, saying: "It's not my time anymore. It's the future's time.
"It's been a long time. I've taken a lot of punishment."
Tate lost her last two fights since claiming the bantamweight belt from Holly Holm at UFC 196.
She leaves the sport with an 18-7 record (5-4 UFC).
