Svindal completes Lake Louise double
An eighth World Cup win at Lake Louise - and second in the space of 24 hours - came the way of Norway's Aksel Lund Svindal on Sunday.
Aksel Lund Svindal completed a superb weekend double at Lake Louise with victory in Sunday's FIS Alpine Skiing World Cup super-G race.
After missing last season due to an Achilles injury, Svindal showed he was back to his best on Saturday as he pipped Peter Fill to victory in the first men's downhill of the season.
And the Norwegian claimed yet another World Cup win at Lake Louise 24 hours later - his eighth in total at the Canadian venue - to get his bid for a record sixth super-G crystal globe off to the perfect start.
For the second day in succession, Italy's Fill found himself as the man to beat when he posted a time of one minute and 29.75 seconds.
However, Svindal beat that mark by 0.45secs and remained at the top of the leaderboard thereafter, with Matthias Mayer (+0.35secs) just beating Fill to second.
Svindal's 13th World Cup victory in super-G means he has extended his early lead in the overall standings, which stood at seven points prior to Sunday's race.
