Newcomer George positive about England's future
Hooker Jamie George remains positive about England's future despite their disappointing early exit at the Rugby World Cup.
England may already be out of the Rugby World Cup but Jamie George is confident the tournament hosts have a bright future thanks to a clutch of young players coming through the ranks.
The inclusion of George is one of a raft of changes made by coach Stuart Lancaster for England's final match of Pool A against Uruguay, although the Saracens hooker will start on the bench.
Lancaster's starting XV has eight alterations to the one beaten 33-13 by Australia at Twickenham last Saturday, with youngsters like Henry Slade and Jack Nowell handed their chance to impress on the international stage.
Despite the disappointment of their early exit, George believes the clash at the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday gives England's younger players the chance to shine and set a benchmark for the future.
"I think there's an excitement within the group," he said.
"It is a young team and we've got some young players and some very exciting players.
"I guess it is a case of looking ahead now.
"We can't change what's gone but what we do need to do is make sure that we put in a brilliant performance this weekend and that will definitely start the ball rolling and hopefully we can then move forward and head back to the Premiership and what will be a brilliant season.
"I for one am hugely excited about what's coming and what we can do as a group of players, I think we can go a long way. We've just got to react in the right way to the disappointment that we've had over the last few weeks and move on and get on with it.
"There was a lot of energy from the lads that weren't involved last week and I think we're itching at the bit to get involved and to have an impact on this team."
