Negesse, Dibaba out to impress in Chicago
Endeshaw Negesse and Birhane Dibaba are set to contend at the Chicago Marathon.
Chicago Marathon organisers are preparing for warm weather for Sunday's race, which is set to include a mix of youth and experience.
Warm temperatures are expected for the 38th edition of the race and organisers are ready.
Race director Carey Pinkowski said he was keeping an eye on the weather to have all the necessary information available for competitors.
"We're talking with our volunteers, with our medical team, with everyone involved with our city agencies," he told CBS.
"So we'll make the adjustments."
Among the men's field, Ethiopian Endeshaw Negesse can climb top of the Serie IX leaderboard – a position held by 2014 Chicago champion Eliud Kipchoge.
Tsegaye Kebede, the 2012 winner, is missing due to injury, while Sammy Kitwara is also expected to challenge.
In the women's race, Birhane Dibaba – who like Negesse is this year's Tokyo Marathon winner – is the favourite.
