Moeen out twice as England struggle
England's last day of warm-up action before facing Pakistan did not go to plan, with Moeen Ali dismissed twice and Alex Hales out cheaply.
Neither Moeen Ali nor Alex Hales were able to convince as England struggled with the bat on their final day of warm-up action ahead of next week's first Test with Pakistan.
Moeen is the favourite to be named as Alastair Cook's opening partner in Abu Dhabi next week, but spurned two opportunities to impress against Pakistan A in Sharjah on Friday.
Despite encouraging half-centuries from Ian Bell and James Taylor, who retired at lunch before returning for a second stint at the crease, England could only muster 198-9 in reply to their opponents' total of 192 as a semi-competitive match was drawn.
Moeen and rival would-be opener Hales departed inside the opening four overs, before Bell and Taylor prospered for the remainder of the morning session, reaching 53 and 44 not out respectively.
England took lunch on 118-2, but a flurry of wickets followed in the afternoon, prompting the tourists to send batsmen out for second chances to impress amid a second successive day of relaxed rules.
All-rounder Moeen failed to capitalise, falling for a second time having improved his score to 20, but Taylor moved to 61 and Jos Buttler enjoyed welcome time in the middle, progressing to 39 not out having originally fallen for eight.
