Furyk still a doubt for Presidents Cup
Jim Furyk is continuing to test his injured wrist with less than a week until the Presidents Cup begins in South Korea.
United States captain Jay Haas has an unnamed player on standby for the Presidents Cup, with Jim Furyk's fitness still in doubt ahead of next week's event in South Korea.
Furyk missed the season-ending Tour Championship due to a bone contusion in his left wrist, which had previously forced him to withdraw from the BMW Championship.
Haas remains hopeful that Furyk - a veteran of seven Presidents Cups - can recover in time to take on Nick Price's international team at Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon.
"Jim is still testing his wrist," Haas told PGA Tour Radio. "I don't think it's quite where he wants it to be, but he's doing everything he can to be there.
"My hope is that he will be on that plane."
Haas and Price have until October 7 - the day before the event begins - to name replacements for injured players and the USA have informed one individual that he is in line to step in should Furyk pull out.
"He has plane reservations, his clothing is being readied, if that happens," added Haas.
