There were plenty of positives for England to draw from after narrowly missing out on Six Nations glory as Mike Brown's men bid to win the 2015 Rugby World Cup on home soil.

England fell agonisingly short of winning the Six Nations title last week, despite edging France in a pulsating encounter at Twickenham.

Stuart Lancaster's men triumphed 55-35 but the victory fell short of the 26-point margin required for England to dethrone Ireland, who saw off Scotland 40-16.

England may have walked away from the championship empty-handed but full-back Brown says his team-mates are primed for the World Cup, which kicks off in London on September 18.

"We knew it was going to be an incredibly tight tournament, with a number of teams having very good autumn series," Brown told Sky Sports.

"For us, it was a case of picking up where we left off in the autumn, and I think our attacking game has come on leaps and bounds during the Six Nations, especially in the last game. In the games before that we were creating chances but not quite finishing them off.

"It's also great for other guys to show how much they’ve improved as players, guys who may not have had an opportunity if others were fit.

"It's massively important going into a World Cup that we have strength in depth. Look at New Zealand in 2011, they were down to their fourth-choice fly-half in the final. They showed their strength in depth and we definitely have that now."
