Bolt jokes 'Gatlin paid him off' after Segway accident
'Justin Gatlin paid him off' - Usain Bolt joked after being hit by a cameraman on a Segway at the World Championships.
Usain Bolt joked that rival sprinter Justin Gatlin paid a cameraman to run into him at the World Championships, after the Jamaican was knocked over by a Segway in Beijing.
Bolt won the men's 200 metres final by 0.19seconds from Gatlin at Beijing 2015 on Thursday, and during his celebratory lap for his fourth straight 200m world title, the 29-year-old was tripped from behind by a cameraman riding on a Segway.
The athletics phenomenon rolled to his feet immediately and was in a cheeky mood at his media conference later.
"I did not actually hit the cameraman, he took me out," Bolt said.
"The rumour I'm trying to start right now is that Justin Gatlin paid him off, so that's what I'm going with but I'm all right, so it's all good."
Gatlin, who claimed silver behind Bolt in both the 100m and 200m in Beijing, responded in equally good humour: "I want my money back. He didn't complete the job."
