Cavs edge Warriors in Christmas thriller, Spurs beat Bulls
Kyrie Irving's jumper with 3.4 seconds remaining gave the Cleveland Cavaliers victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Defending NBA champions the Cleveland Cavaliers outlasted the streaking Golden State Warriors on Christmas day, while the San Antonio Spurs trumped the Chicago Bulls.
Golden State's nine-game winning streak was ended by Cleveland, who triumphed 109-108 in a thriller on Sunday.
A season-high point haul from LaMarcus Aldridge lifted the Spurs past the Bulls 119-110.
The Oklahoma City Thunder were too good for the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Boston Celtics prevailed against the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
CAVS GIVE FANS CHRISTMAS TREAT
Trailing by 14 points early in the fourth quarter, the Cavs had their back against the wall in Cleveland.
But Kyrie Irving ensured the Cavs walked away with Christmas cheer thanks to his turnaround jumper over Klay Thompson with 3.4 seconds remaining in the growing rivalry between the two teams.
Irving finished with 25 points, while LeBron James posted 31 points and a season-high 13 rebounds.
The Warriors were led by Kevin Durant and his game-high 36 points and Thompson contributed 24 points.
ALDRIDGE INSPIRES SPURS
If it was not for Aldridge, Christmas dinner could have been a lot different for the Spurs.
San Antonio surrendered a 20-point lead as Chicago took a three-point advantage midway through the third period.
But Aldridge and his 33 points helped the Spurs to emerge triumphant on home court.
Dwyane Wade scored 24 points for the Bulls.
WESTBROOK SPARKS THUNDER
Another double-double from Russell Westbrook helped the Thunder to victory on Sunday.
Westbrook had 31 points and 15 assists in Oklahoma City's 112-100 win against the Timberwolves.
LAKERS UPSTAGE CLIPPERS, CELTICS WIN
The Lakers snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Clippers with a 111-102 victory, while the Celtics withstood a Knicks rally to prevail 119-114.
CAVS GO AGAIN
Buoyed by their successful Christmas outing, the Cavs are on the road against the Detroit Pistons on Monday. The Houston Rockets host the Phoenix Suns, the Toronto Raptors face the Portland Trail Blazers and the Clippers meet the Denver Nuggets.
