When voting for the NBA All-Star Game begins on December 25, the entire voting process will have a new procedure.

The NBA announced on Monday that in addition to the usual fan vote, players and members of the basketball media will now have a say in who gets selected to the February exhibition game.

NBA fans, who can submit one selection per day leading up to the All-Star Game, will account for 50 per cent of the vote total. Players and a panel of media members, who are allowed just one ballot each, will account for the other half.

Players can vote for team-mates or themselves if they choose. Coaches in the Eastern and Western Conferences will continue to choose the seven reserves on each squad for the game scheduled for February 19 in New Orleans.
