LeBron James on injury-hit Cavs: As long as I'm in the line-up, we have a chance
The Cleveland Cavaliers are without two key players, but Lebron James says his presence means they will always be competitive.
LeBron James says the injury-hit Cleveland Cavaliers will always have a chance if he is in the team.
The 32-year-old led the reigning NBA champions to a 116-108 win at the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, registering 25 points, 14 assists and eight rebounds.
The Cavs are reeling after All-Star forward Kevin Love joined guard JR Smith on the injury list.
Love will miss six weeks of action after knee surgery, but James - who assisted Derrick Williams with a stunning no-look pass through Andrew Wiggins' legs during the win over the Timberwolves - says his presence always keeps the Eastern Conference leaders competitive.
"I will rest when I retire," said James, who is averaging a joint league-high 37.6 minutes per game, via ESPN.
"As long as I'm in the line-up, we have got a chance. We [are] good. Kev is out, Kev is out for an extended period of time. JR has been out, but I'm in the line-up. I will be suiting up, we have got a chance against anybody. I ain't worried."
The Cavs (38-16) have one more game before the All-Star break, at home to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.
"For me it has been a good month so far and for our team after a not-so-good January," said James, whose side have won six of their last seven games.
"But at the end of the day the break is coming up. We have got one more game, the break is coming up and I think we all can use it.
"Just get ready for the later stage of the season and prepare for the playoffs. I have always looked forward to after the break. It is my favourite part [of the season]."
