LeBron endorses Oakley for president after Knicks scuffle
Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James weighed in on the Charles Oakley-James Dolan feud on Thursday.
There may be no professional athlete in the world with as much political pull as LeBron James.
And while the world already knew the Cleveland Cavaliers star's stance on the Charles Oakley-James Dolan feud that has engulfed New York, it is likely James earned a few more backers in the Big Apple with his latest statement.
Following Cleveland's 118-109 loss at the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, James briefly held court with reporters before offering a parting thought.
"One final thing: Charles Oakley for president," James said.
Former New York Knicks star Oakley was arrested when Madison Square Garden security escorted him from the arena on Wednesday.
Dolan, the source of Oakley's outburst, and the Knicks have engaged in bizarre back-and-forth finger pointing with the latter since his arrest, releasing a series of statements pleading for the 53-year-old to "get some help soon" and painting him as the aggressor.
The Knicks have refuted claims that Dolan sought Oakley out.
Oakley was charged with three counts of third-degree assault and criminal trespassing, all misdemeanours, before he released late on Wednesday.
Sometime in between, James took to Instagram to declare he was taking Oakley's side, sharing a photo captioned: "Mood!! #Legend."
Many, including James' buddies Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade, have followed suit in support of Oakley, who might want to run for office in 2020 if this keeps up.
