Lakers' 49-point loss to Mavericks worst in franchise history
The Los Angeles Lakers fell 122-73 to the Dallas Mavericks. The 49-point loss was the largest margin of defeat in their history.
It was a day to forget for the Los Angeles Lakers, who suffered a franchise-worst defeat to the Dallas Mavericks.
Eleven years ago on Sunday, Kobe Bryant scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors. Now his former team cannot manage 75 against one of the worst sides in the NBA.
The Lakers fell 122-73 to the Mavericks without a starter scoring in double digits. The 49-point loss was the largest margin of defeat in Lakers history.
Los Angeles shot 38.4 percent from the floor and made just three of 21 three-point attempts.
To make matters worse, the Lakers committed 17 turnovers as they lost for the 13th consecutive time to the Mavericks (15-29).
The game was close early with the Mavs leading 23-22 before Dallas scored 15 points in a row to blow the game wide open. Los Angeles, who have lost six of their last seven games, had just 33 points at half-time thanks to an 11-point second quarter — both franchise lows.
Justin Anderson scored 19 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 13 for Dallas, who made 17 three-pointers on the night while shooting 49.4 percent from the floor.
