Grizzlies' Allen out indefinitely with strained calf
Facing the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA playoffs, the Memphis Grizzlies appear set to be without Tony Allen.
Tony Allen's chances of playing in the first round of the NBA playoffs are extremely slim.
The Grizzlies guard suffered a calf strain in his right leg during the first five minutes of Memphis' game against the Dallas Mavericks, the team announced Thursday.
"It's an unfortunate injury for Tony and the team. With treatment and recovery, we hope to get him back as soon as possible," general manager Chris Wallace said.
Allen was only in Wednesday's 100-93 loss to the Mavericks for five minutes before he suffered the injury.
There is no timetable for his return, which is problematic since the seventh-seeded Grizzlies are set to take on the Spurs, starting Saturday.
The 35-year-old averages 9.1 points in 27 minutes per game this season.
