François Kamano grabs a brace as Bordeaux stun Monaco 2-1
Bordeaux picked up their first victory of the Ligue 1 season thanks to an injury-time strike from François Kamano to seal a 2-1 win over Monaco.
The first half was a tame contest with the best chance falling to Youri Tielemans just before the break. The Belgian hit a shot from range, which looked to have Benoît Costil beaten.
François Kamano won a penalty for Bordeaux minutes after the restart after being fouled by Jermerson. The Guinean attacker stepped up the to take the spot-kick and duly sent Monaco keeper Benaglio the wrong way.
Monaco found their way back into the tie after teenager Pietro Pellegri pounced on an error from Bordeaux defender Jules Koundé. The Italian’s left-footed strike found the back of the net for his first Ligue 1 goal.
Disaster struck for Monaco when Swiss stopper Benaglio tackled Younousse Sankharé, conceding a penalty. Bordeaux switched penalty takers, but this time striker Samuel Kalu was denied as Benaglio saved his effort.
Thankfully for Kalu, Kamano spared his blushes with a well-taken strike in second-half stoppage time to give managerless Bordeaux all three points.
