Andrei Vasilevskiy made 33 saves in the shut-out win for the Lightning at the Barclays Center.
Goals from J.T. Brown and Ryan Callahan, both in the final two minutes of the first period, gave Tampa Bay the advantage.
Nikita Kucherov and Vladislav Namestnikov scored in the second period to seal the victory.
Kucherov (one goal, one assist) and Steven Stamkos (two assists) both finished with two points.
The Lightning improved to 9-6-1 with the win, while the Islanders slipped to 5-8-3 following their third consecutive loss.
