Blackhawks rally past Ducks in OT, Bruins stun Rangers
The Chicago Blackhawks came back to beat the Anaheim Ducks in overtime, while the Boston Bruins upstaged the New York Rangers.
The Chicago Blackhawks sealed an emphatic 3-2 overtime victory against the Anaheim Ducks thanks to Artem Anisimov on Friday.
Anisimov netted the decisive goal at 1:53 into the additional period after a tremendous late rally from the NHL Stanley Cup champions.
Trailing to goals from Andrew Cogliano and Chris Stewart, Marian Hossa and Duncan Keith netted with less than two minutes remaining in the third period to force overtime.
The Blackhawks have now recorded back-to-back wins as the Ducks slipped to their third defeat in four.
There was a shock win for the Boston Bruins, who downed the New York Rangers 4-3.
J. T. Miller put the Rangers ahead midway through the final period but the in-form Bruins refused to lie down, as Ryan Spooner and David Krejci netted late on to extend the Boston franchise's winning streak to five.
Shayne Gostisbehere netted with 52 seconds remaining in overtime to help the Philadelphia Flyers past Nashville Predators 3-2.
The Detroit Red Wings edged the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 in overtimes thanks to Niklas Kronwall.
Overtime also decided the Columbus Blue Jackets against the Pittsburgh Penguins after the former prevailed 2-1.
The Washington Capitals accounted for the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2, the Buffalo Sabres crushed the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 and the Winnipeg Jets breezed past the Minnesota Wild 3-1.
Tyler Seguin scored the only goal of the shoot-out as the Dallas Stars beat the Vancouver Canucks in a 3-2 victory, while the New York Islanders lost to the Florida Panthers by the same scoreline in a shoot-out.
Elsewhere, the Montreal Canadiens defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-2 in a shoot-out and the Arizona Coyotes outlasted the Calgary Flames 2-1 in OT.
