Serena Williams moved level with Steffi Graf on 22 grand slam titles on Saturday with her Wimbledon win over Angelique Kerber, and she is determined to enjoy the moment.

Williams' 7-5 6-3 victory gave her a seventh title at the All England Club and leaves her two short of equalling Margaret Court's all-time record of 24 grand slams.

However, the world number one is keen to make the most of relieving the pressure of tying Graf before even considering becoming the greatest of all time.

"Oh, God, no," she replied when asked about taking further records. "One thing I learned about last year is to enjoy the moment.  

"I learned not to get involved in those debates and conversations. I just learned to just play tennis. That's what I do best.

"I'm definitely going to enjoy this."

Williams had been on the cusp of equalling Graf twice already in 2016 but slipped to defeat in the finals of the Australian and French Opens.

And the 34-year-old admitted the pressure that was beginning to build had caused her some stress in recent months.

She added: "I have definitely had some sleepless nights, if I'm just honest, with a lot of stuff. 

"Coming so close. Feeling it, not being able to quite get there. It was getting down to the pressure.

"At this tournament I came in with just a different mind frame and mindset. In Melbourne I thought I played well, but honestly Angelique played great, she played better. She just played really good tennis. 

"So I knew that going into this one, I just needed to keep calm, be confident, just play the tennis that I've been playing for well over a decade.

"Once I started focusing more on the positives, I realised that I'm pretty good. Then I started playing a little better."
